An expedition by the Jat Regiment to Mt Trishul-I (7120 m) in May-Jun 2011, was the third consecutive expedition of the regiment since 2009. The team was led by Major RS Jamwal, an experienced climber. Following rigorous preexpedition training, the team was flagged off by Lieutenant General SP Tanwar, GOC, Uttar Bharat Area on April 26, 2011. The first party of five soldiers, led by Major Jamwal, summited the peak on June 1 at 10.19 hours while the second party of one Junior Commissioned Officer and two soldiers reached the top on June 4 at 14.46 hours. The expedition was flagged in by General VK Singh, Chief of Army Staff on July 1, 11.
