Educational Scholarship from Bengal Masonic Association Inter Services Charitable Trust
An Inter Services Charitable Trust known as ‘Bengal Masonic Association Inter Services Charitable Trust’ is maintained at AG’s Branch/CW-7, Army Headquarters, New Delhi-11 and for Air Force personnel at Director Personal Services, Air Headquarters, Vayu Bhawan, Rafi Marg, New Delhi-11. This trust, with limited funds available, provides educational scholarship to needy and promising children of service personnel of all ranks of the three services who died or were disabled while in service (other than in Action for whom Government bears the educational expenses). The scholarship is given for pursuing education from Class VI onwards till graduation/post graduation and also for vocational courses recognised by Central/State Govt. It is limited to one child in a family. The amount of scholarship varies from class to class subject to a minimum of Rs 500/- and a maximum of Rs 2000/- in an academic year subject to the student should not be in receipt of any other scholarship. The scholarship should be applied for in the prescribed form duly completed and endorsed by school/college authorities and Record Office/Zila Sainik Board should be submitted to Army Headquarters/Air Headquarters by 15 September each year for consideration in the Annual Trust Committee Meeting which is normally held in the month of December. If approved, the scholarship is remitted some time in Jan/Feb of the ensuing year. Payment of scholarship is made directly to the head of the educational institution by crossed cheque in favour of the student for disbursement to him. This scholarship is discontinued if the student fails to obtain promotion in any class, discontinues studies or is involved in a disciplinary case.
Grant of ECHS facility to World War-II Veterans, ECOs, SSCOs and Pre-mature retirees
Approval of the competent authority has been conveyed for grant of membership of ECHS to WW-II veterans subject to the conditions that they must apply for membership of ECHS and accept the rules of ECHS, ECHS facilities would be extended only to the individuals of the above mentioned categories and their spouses, they will have to pay one time contribution and become members of ECHS (However, war widows shall be exempted from payment of one time ECHS contribution), they should not be covered under any other institutional health scheme of the Govt, they should not have been discharged on disciplinary grounds, they should abide by the ECHS Rules as amended from time to time, WW-II veterans and ECOs and their spouses would be allowed all ECHS facilities including treatment in ECHS empanelled hospital and free OPD and IPD treatment facilities at the AFMS hospitals as available to other ECHS members. The SSCOs and pre-mature retirees would be eligible for free OPD services from ECHS Polyclinics and they must pay for OPD/IPD/investigation in ECHS empanelled hospital and seek reimbursement @ 75% of total admission expenditure for personnel having more than 10 years of service and @ 50% of total admissible expenditure for personnel having less than or equal to 10 years of service.
