As a commitment to welfare and rehabilitation of Veer Naris (war widows) and their wards, disabled soldiers and ex servicemen, the Army has been making consistent efforts to ensure that maximum benefits and concessions reach those in need. Education Scholarship Scheme have been instituted for wards of soldiers, who die in line of duty and for higher education of Veer Naris. Financial assistance for marriage of daughters of soldiers, who die in harness and war disabled soldiers, as well as for remarriage of Veer Naaris have been provided.
At a solemn ceremony held under the aegis of Adjutant General, Lt. Gen. Mukesh Sabharwal on 15 December 2010 at the Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment, Army Chief, General V K Singh and Mrs. Bharti Singh, Chairperson Army Wives Welfare Association, presented 16 modified scooters and 18 cheques for financial assistance, education scholarships Disabled Soldiers and the Veer Naaris.
