Minister of State for Defence Jitender Singh visited the Office of the DGAFMS here yesterday. He was briefed by Air Marshal DP Joshi, DGAFMS about the Role of the Armed Forces Medical Service in peace and combat medical support. The Minister visited the Army Hospital Research and Referral (AHRR), the apex institute of the Armed Forces today. During his visit to the various departments of the hospital, he interacted with patients belonging to both serving/ex-servicemen segments and their families and was apprised of the various ultra-modern, high tech medical facilities available in the hospital. The Minister was highly appreciative of the quality of care rendered in the hospital, given with devotion, empathy and dedication. The Minister of State for Defence expressed his unstinted commitment and support to the AFMS and assured the DGAFMS that health of the soldier, sailor and airman, their families and dependants and the veterans was of utmost importance to the Govt of India. The MoD has constantly endeavoured to modernize the Armed Forces Medical Services with provisioning of contemporary cutting edge technology in all our hospitals. He expressed his solidarity for all similar proposals to modernize the AFMS, in the future.
