On 07 October 2013, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde accompanied by Chief Minister, Uttrakhand, Vijay Bahuguna, Director General Border Security Force Subhash Joshi, and other dignitaries, laid the foundation stones for the Headquarters of Reserve Border Security Force Battalions at Sitarganj and Doiwala. Large number of local people gathered to witness the ceremonies. Establishment of Reserve BSF Battalion Headquarters at Doiwala would benefit nearly 6000 serving and many more retired personnel from Uttarakhand. They would now be able to avail the accommodation, canteen, medical and school facilities. Mr. Shinde also inaugurated the BSF adventure Training and Advance Operational Institute at Doiwala, Uttarakhand. This institute was shifted from Tekanpur to Doiwala to enhance opportunities in adventure sports including mountaineering and rafting. This institute will also be able to provide relief for any natural calamities. During the inauguration ceremony the Institute’s trainers presented a demonstration of aero sports (para motor display), rescue work carried out by ladies and the Netra UAV. Mr. Shinde praised the BSF for relief and rehabilitation work in Kedarnath valley and honoured widows of martyrs by presenting Rs. 25,000/- to each.
