After decades of being deployed in the world’s highest, coldest and harshest of terrains in the world-Siachen-Indian Army troops can hope to live in insulated shelters, integrated with different kinds of technologies. These hi-tech shelters will not only improve the living conditions of troops manifold, but will also have a direct bearing on the individual capacities to perform their tasks better, since terrain and weather impose severe restrictions on all ranks.
These light, modular prefabricated shelters require minimal logistical and transportation efforts, will also conform to recent trends and requirements of green technology, incorporating appropriate active and passive measures for energy conservation, maximising exposure to sun light and minimising heat loss. In addition, various type of “bio-digesters”, “sewage treatment plants” and “composting toilets”, which are in sync with green technology, will be constructed to ensure better sewage disposal in extreme cold climatic conditions.
