Salute magazine, which completed three years of circulation in May this year got a great shot in the arm with the Indian Army sponsoring six issues. The first of those six issues under the theme of Fighting Spirit was released by the Army Chief, General V.K. Singh at a function on 27 August. Speakers, who traced the journey of Salute magazine were Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman Pioneer Group, Dr. Chandan Mitra, its publisher, Maroof Raza, editor, Air Cmde Prashant Dikshit (Retd) and former Haryana Legislator Maj Nippy Sangwan (Retd).
Aspects of the magazine, which is a rich mix of glimpses of the eventful history of Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, as well as paramilitary and other security forces; interesting anecdotes on vignettes of life in the Armed forces, not only of soldiers, but also their families; sports and adventure activities; culture, ethos, traditions and lifestyle of the Services — both agonies and ecstasies etc, all featured in the review. The Army Chief’s compliment about some issues being collector’s items and the sponsorship is a result of the positive feedback from the Services that Salute has received.
