As part of the process of enhancing coastal security post 26/11, another Indian Coast Guard Station, ICGS Mundra, was commissioned by Vice Admiral Anil Chopra, DG,ICG, on May 19. This will play an effective role in undertaking joint coastal patrol along with Marine Police, Customs and Fisheries Department to thwart maritime security threats in the sensitive coastal region of Gujarat. ICGS Mundra will function under the administrative and operational control of the Commander, Coast Guard Region (North- West) through the Commander, Coast Guard District Headquarters-1 (Gujarat) located at Porbandar. Commandant RK Srivastava has been appointed as the first Commanding Officer of the station.
