On 03 September 2013, Border Security Force seized a huge consignment of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth Rs. 10, 00,000/- from the India – Bangladesh border. Acting on a specific BSF intelligence, troops of 125 Battalion BSF deployed in border area of Border Out Post Churiantpur, District Malda, West Bengal, laid an ambush. Ambush party observed some suspicious movement near the border fence. On being challenged by the ambush party, they tried to flee , however alert BSF troops chased and apprehended one person named Noor Islam Sheikh, S/o Atul Seikh, R/o vill Mohammedpur, POKaliachak, Distt Malda (WB).
On search Rs. 10,00,000/- FICN (denomination 1000×600 & 500×800) were recovered from his possession. In another incident, acting on a specific BSF input, troops of 28 BSF deployed in Koraput, Odisha for anti Naxal Operation (ANO) while checking a hilly and thick forested stretch of the road in the area of Koraput, detected an unusual sound, while scanning with a metal detector. On digging they noticed one 20 Kgs of improvised explosive device (IED) with electric wire. A bomb disposal / field engineering qualified squad reached on the spot and destroyed the IED in situ with the help of a demolition set in the presence of Odisha police.
