On November 26, 2012 BSF picked school children from the remote areas of Kashmir Valley. They were taken to Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Agra and Delhi for a recce of the places of historical, cultural and technological importance. DG BSF UK Bansal, apprised the Minister of State for home affairs Mullappally Ramachandran about the composition of the group of children. Ramachandran, advised them to share the knowledge they gained about the country with their peers so that we all as a nation grow in an unified manner and stronger each day.
As part of its civic action programme, BSF has been conducting Bharat Darshan Tours for them since 1999- 2000. The main purpose of such visit is to expose the children of remote areas to the historical, cultural and technological profile of the country as also the development and progress the country has achieved. Till date nearly 1,250 children from Jammu & Kashmir have participated in the BSF sponsored Bharat Darshan Tours.
