Russian deputy PM Dmitry O Rogozin’s visit to India soon after the new government assuming charge is significant. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Mr Rogozin reportedly held extensive talks on crucial bilateral issues including trade and energy security. Deliberating on regional and international issues of mutual concern, matters discussed were economic cooperation, energy security, the deal for the third and fourth reactors of Kudankulam power plant and preparations for the annual summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin scheduled during the course of the year. India’s concern with Russia’s proposed move to supply Mi-35 military helicopters to Pakistan was also discussed. The Russian Deputy Prime Ministeralso met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
