Brig GB Reddy AVSM

Brig GB Reddy is a graduate of Command and Staff College, Canada, and the National Defence College, New Delhi. A veteran of the 1962 India-China war, the 1965 India-Pakistan War and the Liberation War of 1971, he was awarded Mention-in-Despatches for gallantry in the 1971 War and the AVSM for Distinguished Service of an exceptional order in Nagaland in 1986. He has authored eight books, the latest being Burning India – Dismal Failure to counter Strategic Challenges (2020). He also writes and speaks on security and defence related issues. In this article, Brig Reddy writes about his personal experience as Brigade Major, 350 Infantry Brigade and of the operations carried out before the official start of hostilities on 3 December 1971.
